Hi All!

 

First off I want to say that I fully admire the WoL map designers and the server is one of the best out there. The following is not me trying to say the server is rubbish, more that it is some thoughts I have!

 

Having played on the server for more than two years I've thoroughly enjoyed myself. Those who fly with me will know I fly one month for Axis and the next for Allies - mainly as a ground attacker / bomber pilot and my monthly ground kill score is usually the same whoever I fly for. Whilst the challenges for bombers are a bit different for each side I feel that the maps are pretty equal and are well designed.

 

However, in the past 24 months the Allies have won 19 maps and the Axis only 5. Since update 4.005, when the bomb blast damage was changed, the Axis have not won a map (it's not the only factor but it has made a big difference). For me this shows that there a problem with the current map balance. 

 

If both teams are playing with 8-10 ground attackers and have supporting fighters then the maps are very close and it is exciting to play. The Allies are very good at playing this way and this is why they win. The Allies are playing a 'ground attack' game.

 

Wings of Liberty attracts a lot of new players. Often they are a bit worried about engine management or don't understand how to ground attack and so they will end up on the Axis side flying 109s. Therefore the Axis team is playing an 'air attack' game and the presence of ground targets is not important. With the maps the way they are now the 'air attack' game will never win - and it has rarely done so in two years. The Allies frequently win maps even when they are outnumbered 2 or 3:1 because their skill base is much higher and they have more ground attack pilots.

 

The players may have changed over the past two years but the way that they play hasn't. Allies bomb, Axis dogfight and I don't think that will ever be any different.

 

In order to make the server 'fairer' I would propose that the ground targets for the Axis players be changed. Perhaps by initially reducing the number of objects at each location by 10-20%. If the Axis start winning too many games then you could return a few more objects at each target.

 

This would allow both sides to continue to play the way that they always have but mean that there are more months when the overall scores are closer. Last month the Allies won 160:30 and most months they win by 80+ missions - even though both sides usually have similar flight times, ground kills, air kills and score. The month's when I fly Red I know I'm going to win even if I just mess around; the month's when I fly Blue I know I'm going to lose even if I try my hardest to bomb everything and get the team to work together. It's very predictable.

 

As I said at the beginning, this is a great server and I love it! Any small change that might help make each month a little more exciting would be hugely appreciated!

По поводу всего остального.

В общем написано правильно, грамотно и непредвзято.

Убранный разработчиками дамаг от бомб, очень сильно повлиял на соотношение возможностей сторон. И главное - на мотивацию для бомбардировщиков. Она стала слишком малой. Я прекрасно это понимаю. И понимал с самого начала. Поэтому Хану сразу были переданы соответствующие материалы. Несколько раз. Результат нулевой. Недавно нами был подготовлен материал для Джейсона. Через одного из разработчиков он был передан. Надеюсь что хоть что-то в этом направлении изменится. Подождем патча. 

По поводу побед по самолетам. Ты можешь посмотреть статистику за последние два месяца. До 4501 и после. Ты увидишь, что до патча вообще нет побед. После патча они появились. Мы изменили количество самолетов на счетчиках которые фиксируют потери. За весну, лето, осень мы это делаем уже четвертый раз. Потому что разработчики меняют ДМ, наши настройки становятся не актуальными. И мы уже потом через некоторое время вынуждены реагировать. Мы как та собака, которая крутится за собственным хвостом и никак не может его догнать.

I completely agree, the imbalance of the game is getting worse and worse.  This gives people from Western countries wrong impression (I see more than once chat message in game associating the Allied/Soviet wins to the fact the server is hosted in Russia).  

 

I always play German only because the propellers turn clockwise same direction as the plane I fly in real world (as most general aviation planes at least in USA like Cessna, Cirrus, etc...) and I want to feel the same way in game as in real world. 

 

Now people like me enjoy the server less because of the imbalance. As fewer and fewer players play German side, it will be less enjoyable for Allied player as well, because the server turns into ground attack co-op server. 

 

There are a number of easy ways to remedy this:

 

1. Reduce the number of red objectives. 

2. Reduce the upgrades (like larger caliber guns) available to Russian planes

3. Allow Fw190-A3 in more maps because it is both a ground attack and dog fighter unlike A5 or A8 that stands a chance against Russian fighters, to encourage Axis player to do more ground attack. 

 

You can look at the Combat box server. They always have A3 when G6 or G14 is available.  But in Wings server a lot of times even when G14 is available A3 is not made available. It is like forcing Axis side to only fly fighter and do no ground attack at all, which is the main reason Allied almost always wins in Wings server.

Это неправда. По статистике синих пилотов летает всегда больше, чем красных.

 

Я уже много раз объяснял, что подобное положение вещей возникло из-за того, что разработчики "сломали" воздействие бомб на статические объекты. И сразу весь настроенный геймплей сломался. У синей стороны был сильный аргумент в виде бомбардировщиков с большой загрузкой и крупными бомбами. Теперь этого нет. Бомбардировщики в этой игре теперь не эффективны. И с этим мы ничего поделать не можем. Всё построено именно на них + штурмовики. Мне не нужен Комбат бокс. У нас совсем другие карты и другой геймплей. Не надо путать теплое и мягкое.

After a week of flying for the Axis this month it’s really nice to see that a lot of the maps have been changed. I can see the difference in a lot of them and it feels like the targets are easier to close now. Some of the missions have been very close battles (sometimes we lost by just one or two tanks!) and I’ve seen a few more battles end in a draw. Thank you for making the changes. Pity we will absolutely destroy the Axis next month when a lot of us switch to Allies ;)
